Question 250980
This problem says solve then graph on a number line
7x≥42
The solution is mulitle choice and Im not sure I got the right one Can someone help me please? the choices are
{x|x≥6}
{x|x≤6}
{x|x<6}
{x|x>6}

The problem is 7x≥42, so you solve for "x". How do you do that? Well you are multiplying by 7, so you need to DIVIDE by 7 to isolate the x. If you divide by 7 on the left side of the equation, you have to do the same on the right:

{{{7x/7}}} ≥   {{{42/7}}}
    x ≥ 6

Your answer, then, is the top choice. Now just so you know: If you had this problem

-7x≥42

the answer would be different, because when you divide by a negative number, you have to SWITCH the greater than or equal sign. So your answer would have been:

x is LESS THAN OR EQUAL to -6.

That's just a little something for you to know so that you know about switching the less than or equal signs.

You didn't say you have trouble graphing this, and instead only talked about problems with the multiple choice part of the question. If you need help graphing the answer, just write again and you can get help. I think tho, that you seemed to just want to check your choice.

Good luck and I hope this helps you. :-)
