Question 248958
Without graphing, find the line of symmetry.
f(x) = (x + 8)2 - 3

The function above is in the standard vertex form for a parabola:

y = (x-h)^2 + k

where the vertex of the parabola is at the point (h,k) and the axis of symmetry is the line x = h.

So in this case the vertex is (-8,-3) so the axis of symmetry is x = -8
