Question 242212
<font face="Garamond" size="+2">

*[tex \LARGE \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \frac{500}{1\ +\ 2e^{-0.4x}}\ =\ 250]

Multiply both sides by *[tex \LARGE 1\ +\ 2e^{-0.4x}]

*[tex \LARGE \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ 500\ =\ 250\left(1\ +\ 2e^{-0.4x}\right)]

Now apply the distributive property to eliminate the parentheses. 250 times 1 is 250 and 250 times *[tex \LARGE 2e^{-0.4x}] is *[tex \LARGE 500e^{-0.4x}].

However, I wouldn't do the problem that way. I would divide both sides by 250 first. THEN I would apply the distributive property, leaving me with:

*[tex \LARGE \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ 2\ =\ 1\ +\ 2e^{-0.4x}]

Much neater.
