Question 240707
<font face="Garamond" size="+2">

Every year into the future adds one to each of their ages. For example, 3 years from now, Pam will be 14 + 3 and Dad will be 37 + 3. When Pam is 14 plus "I don't know how many years" her Dad will be 37 plus "I don't know how many years" and 37 plus "I don't know how many years" will be two times 14 plus "I don't know how many years".

That is rather cumbersome, so let's use a little shorthand. Let *[tex \Large x] represent "I don't know how many years", then we can say:

*[tex \LARGE \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ 37\ +\ x\ =\ 2(14\ +\ x)]

Just solve for *[tex \Large x]

*[tex \LARGE e^{i\pi} + 1 = 0]
