Question 3953
a term is any stand alone entity in an equation, eg {{{3x^5 - 2x^2 + 5xy - 1/x}}} has 4 terms in it: {{{3x^5}}}, {{{2x^2}}}, {{{5xy}}} and {{{1/x}}}.

if a number, x, is divisible by a and b, such that ab = x, then a and b are termed the factors. For example 2x5=10. 2 and 5 are factors of 10, as are 1 and 10 and 0.5 and 20 etc.

5xy is a term but also a set of factors --> 5*x*y is 3 factors.

Hope this helps
Jon.
