Question 30184
i need to complete the square to write the equation so that the right side is in the a(x-H)2 or (square) form and give a graph for the function.
 p(x)=2x square-2x-24.
COMPLETE THE SQUARE BY USING UP X^2 AND X TERMS AS PER (A+B)^2 OR (A-B)^2 FORMULAE AS SHOWN BELOW
P(X)=2{X^2-X-12}
=2{{(X)^2-2*X*(1/2)+(1/2)^2}-(1/2)^2-12}
=2{(X-0.5)^2-(49/4)}
=2(X-0.5)^2-49/2.....GOT IT ..IF STILL IN DOUBT PLEASE COME BACK

I tried to do it by dividing by the common factor of 2(x-1)-12,but the answer in the book is, p=2(x-1/2)2 (square)- 49/2 or (.5-24.50 how did they get this. thank you sadie
