I think you are trying to simplify

The best you are going to be able to do, using *[tex \LARGE a^{\frac{m}{n}} = \sqrt[n]{a^m}], is:


*[tex \LARGE \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \sqrt[3]{-\frac{1}{8}d^2f^5}\ =\ -\frac{1}{2}d^{\frac{2}{3}}f^{\frac{5}{3}}]
