Question 235019
<font face="Garamond" size="+2">

"a facton of third over four" ??? That is a rather odd way to describe the fraction *[tex \Large \frac{3}{4}] -- if that is what you really meant.

If

*[tex \LARGE \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ 1\ -\ \frac{3}{4}(v\ +\ 2)\ =\ -5]

is what you were trying to represent, then the correct way to do it so that there would be no guesswork would have been to write:

*[tex \LARGE \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \] 1 - (3/4)(v+2) = -5

Perform the following steps to solve for *[tex \LARGE v], which is what I am guessing you want. I'm guessing because you didn't bother to say what it was that you wanted.

Add *[tex \LARGE -1] to both sides

Multiply both sides by *[tex \LARGE -4]

Divide both sides by *[tex \LARGE 3]

Add *[tex \LARGE -2] to both sides.
