Question 229672
You just forgot the parentheses on the right side! Also, I'm not sure why in the third step you subtracted 2 from each side.

2(x-8)=3(x+3)
2x-16=3x+9
2x-16+16=3x+9+16
2x=3x+25

Subtract 3x from each side:
2x-3x=3x-3x-7
-x=25

Divide both sides by -1:
{{{-x/-1=25/-1}}}
{{{x=-25}}}

Check:

Twice the difference of the number and 8 is equal to three times the sum of the number and 3.

2*(-25-8)=3(-25+3)
2*-33=3*-22
-66=-66

It checks!!
