Question 226694
How would you simplify {{{5(n + 2)=10}}}

Step 1. Multiply out to get ride of the parenthesis.

{{{5n+10=10}}}

Step 2. Subtract 10 from both sides of the equation

{{{5n+10-10=10-10}}}

{{{5n=0}}}

{{{n=0}}}

Step 3. Substitute solution {{{n=0}}} with original equation {{{5(n + 2)=10}}} if it leads to a true statement.

{{{5(0+2)=10}}}

{{{10=10}}} which is a true statement.

Step 4. ANSWER: Solution is {{{n=0}}}.

I hope the above steps and explanation were helpful.
