Question 226009
One number is four times another number, if their sum is 95, what are the numbers?

Step 1. Let x be one number.

Step 2. Let 4x be the other number.

Step 3. then x+4x=95 since their sum is 95

Step 4. Solving yields the following steps

{{{5x=95}}}

Divide by 5 to both sides of the equation

{{{5x/5=95/5}}}

{{{x=19}}} and {{{4x=76}}} Also, note their sum is 95.

Step 5. The numbers are 19 and 76.

I hope the above steps and explanation were helpful.
