Step 2.  Divide 6 to both sides of the equation

Step 3.  Check solution with original equation {{{6x-4= 1}}} 


{{{6*(5/6)-4= 1}}} 


{{{5-4=1}}}


{{{1=1}}} which is a true statement


Step 4.  ANSWER:  Solution is {{{x=5/6}}}
