A person sold 120 items in x+2 days.
If he sold at the same rate for a seven day week, how many items did he sell during the seven days?
:
Find out how many sold in 1 day
{{{120/((x+2))}}} = no. of items in 1 day
then in 7 days:
7({{{120/((x+2))}}})
simplify to
{{{840/((x+2))}}} = no. of items sold in 7 days

Response to student's question
Actually you can't solve this, because there is no way to know just what x is.
{{{840/((x+2))}}} in seven days; is as far as you can go with it
This is not an equation, just an expression.
(I probably should not have used the = sign here)
