Question 225061
Write a quadratic equation in the variable x having the given numbers as solutions. Type the equation in standard form, ax^2+bx+c=0. Solutions: -8, 3

Step 1.  Since -8 and 3 are solutions then x=-8 and x=3 or x+8=0 and x-3=0.

Step 2. Multiply by (x+8)(x-3)=0 using the FOIL method.

{{{(x+8)(x-3)=x^2-3x+8x-24}}

{{{0=(x+8)(x-3)=x^2+5x-24}}}

Step 3.  ANSWER:  The quadratic equation is {{{x^2+5x-24=0}}}

I hope the above steps were helpful.
