Why is every real number is a complex number?


Step 1.  A complex number is a+bi where a and b are real numbers and {{{i=sqrt(-1)}}}


Step 2.  So a=a+0i is a real number such that b=0 or a+0i. 


Step 3.  ANSWER:  Based on the above steps, a is a special case of a complex number a+bi where b=0.
