Question 224733
How do i Find the midpoint of the line segment from ( -1/4 , 1/2 )  to  ( -4 , -3 )?

Step 1. Given two points (x1,y1) and (x2,y2), the midpoint is the average of the x- and y-coordinates. That is, the midpoint is {{{xm=(x1+x2)/2}}} {{{ym=(y1+y2)/2}}} or (xm, ym)

Step 2. Then, the midpoint is calculated as follows

{{{xm=(-1/4-4)/2=(-17/4)/2=-17/8}}}

{{{ym=(1/2-3)/2=(-5/2)/2}}}

Step 3. ANSWER: The midpoint is (-17/8,-5/4)

I hope the above steps were helpful.
