Question 224084
Mr. Mustad said: Eight less than three times my age is 100. How old is Mr. Mustard?

Step 1. Let x be the age of Mr. Mustard.

Step 2. Let 3x be three times the age of Mr. Mustard.

Step 3. 3x-8=100 since eight less than three times my age is 100.

Step 4. Solving the equation in Step 3 yields the following steps:

Add 8 to both sides of the equation

{{{3x-8+8=100+8}}}

{{{3x=108}}}

Divide 3 to both sides of the equation

{{{3x/3=108/3}}}

{{{x=36}}}

Step 5. ANSWER. Mr Mustad is 36 years old.

I hope the above steps and explanation were helpful.
