Question 223846
{{{(x-5)(x+2)=6}}}

Step 1. Multiply out the terms to get rid of the parenthesis and obtain a quadratic equation

{{{(x-5)(x+2)=x^2+2x-5x-10=6}}}

{{{x^2-3x-10=6}}}

Add -6 to both sides of the equation

{{{x^2-3x-10+(-6)=6+(-6)}}}

{{{x^2-3x-16=0}}}

Step 2. To solve, use the quadratic formula given as

{{{x = (-b +- sqrt( b^2-4*a*c ))/(2*a) }}}

where a=1, b=-3, and c=-16

*[invoke quadratic "x", 1, -3, -16 ]

I hope the above steps were helpful.
