Question 223232
9x-5(3x-12)=30

Step 1. Multiply out the terms to get rid of the parenthesis and be careful or aware of the minus sign:

{{{9x+(-5)*(3x)+ (-5)*(-12)=30}}}

{{{9x-15x-60=30}}}

Step 2. Combine the x-terms and add 60 to both sides of the equation

{{{(9-15)x-60+60=30-60}}}

{{{-6x=-30}}}

Divide by -6 to both sides of the equation

{{{-6x/-6=-30/-6}}}

{{{x=5}}}

Check...{{{9x-5(3x-12)=30}}}...{{{9*5-5(3*5-12)=30}}}....{{{30=30}}}...a true statement.

Step 3.  ANSWER:  {{{x=5}}}

I hope the above steps were helpful.
