Question 222838
The measure of angle XYZ is 46 degrees more than the measure of its supplement. Find measure of angle XYZ.

Step 1. Let angle x equal to angle XYZ.

Step 2. Supplementary angles means two angles add up to 180 degrees.

Step 3. Let 180-x be the supplement.

Step 4. x=180-x+46=134-x since the angle x or XYZ is 46 degrees more than the measure of its supplement.

Step 5. Solving the equation in Step 4 yields the following steps

{{{x=134-x}}}

Add x to both sides of the equation

{{{x+x=134-x+x}}}

{{{2x=134}}}

Divide 2 to both sides of the equation

{{{2x/2=134/2}}}

{{{x=67}}} and {{{180-x=113}}}. Note that the supplementary angle of 113 is 46 degrees more than the angle of 67 degrees as required and given in the problem.

Step 6. ANSWER: The angle XYZ or angle x is 67 degrees.

I hope the above steps were helpful.
