Question 221629
{{{Z^2-3z-18}}}
ok, so here is how i do these, i will break it down into ( )( ) a set of parenthesis, then i see what can i put in there? well in order to get the first term, we can either have z times z or z^2 times 1. The second one won't work since we have to have z+something times z-something soooo...
{{{(z+?)(z-?)}}} now we look at the third term, which is 18,how can we get 18? well we can do 6 times 3, 9 times 2 or 18 times 1. How do you know which one we need? Well the middle terms decides that, we need -6 and +3, if we add them, we will have -3 which is the coefficient of the third term.
{{{(z-6)(z+3)}}} and just to verify this is equal to z^2-6z+3z-18=z^2-3z-18
next one
{{{5z^2+17z+14=(5z+7)(z+2)}}} feel free to check the answer, but it is correct.
Good luck  Deb!!!!   =)
