Find the general term of the set. {2, 4, 6, 8, 10, . . .}


Step 1.  Let n be the index of the nth term.  Look for a pattern and it appears to be even numbers.


Step 2.  So let 2n be the expression for the  general term.


Check  n=1, then 2n=2.


Check  n=2, then 2n=4.  etc.


Step 3.  ANSWER:  2n is the general term for n=1,2,....5,...
