Question 220104
Let Jade’s distance to the meeting point be J, then Rocky’s distance = 36 – J

D = ST, or {{{T = D/S}}}

Jade’s time to get to meeting point = {{{J/10}}}, while Rocky’s is: {{{(36-J)/8}}}. Both times are equal, and therefore we have: {{{J/10 = (36-J)/8}}}.

8J = 10(36 – J) -------- Cross-multiplying

8J   =   360 – 10J ------- 18J = 360

Therefore, Jade’s distance to meeting point, or J = {{{360/18}}}, or {{{highlight_green(20)}}} miles
