Question 218026
The measure of an angle is four less than the measure of it complement. Find the measure of the angle.

Step 1. Complementary angles means two angles add up to 90 degrees.

Step 2. Let x be the angle.

Step 3. Let 90-x be its complement

Step 4. Let x=90-x-4 since the measure of an angle is four less than the measure of it complement

Step 5. Solving yields the following steps.

Add x to both sides of the equation

{{{x+x=90-x-4+x}}}

{{{2x=96}}}

Divide 2 to both sides of the equation

{{{2x/2=86/2}}}

{{{x=43}}}

Step 6. ANSWER: The angle is 43 degrees.

I hope the above steps were helpful.
