Question 217341
{{{12x-6y=18}}} how do i go about solving what y is?

Step 1. Add 6y to both sides of the equation to get a positive 6y

{{{12x-6y+6y=18+6y}}}

{{{12x=18+6y}}}

Step 2. Subtract 18 from both sides of the equation to get 6y by itself on the right side.

{{{12x-18=18+6y-18}}}

{{{12x-18=6y}}}

Step 3. Divide 6 to both sides of the equation

{{{12x/6-18/6=6y/6}}}

{{{2x-3=y}}} or {{{y=2x-3}}}

Step 4.  ANSWER:  {{{y=2x-3}}}

I hope the above steps and explanation were helpful.
