Question 215581
Is the ordered pair (5,2) a solution to the given equations 2x-y=8 and 3x+2y=20?

Step 1. To determine if (5,2) is a solution substitute x=5 and y=2 into the linear system of equations.

Step 2. For {{{2x-y=8}}}, then {{{2*5-2=8}}} which is a true statement.

Step 3. For {{{3x+2y=20}}} then {{{3*5+2*2=19=20}}} which is a FALSE statement.

Step 4. ANSWER: Therefore, (5,2) is not a solution to the linear system of equations.

I hope the above steps were helpful.
