Question 215462
The measure of the supplement of an angle exceeds 3 times the measure of the complement of the angle by 10. Find the measure of the complement.

Let x be the angle. Then 90-x is the complement and 180-x is the supplement.
You are told {{{(180-x) = 3*(90-x) + 10}}}
{{{180 -x = 270 - 3x + 10}}}
{{{2x = 90+10}}}
{{{2x = 100}}}
{{{x = 50}}}
So the complement is 90-50 = 40
Check your answer, the supplement would be 180-50 = 130
Is 130 = 3*40 + 10???
