Question 215407
Describe the graph resulting when graphing x + 3y < 12.
Give the boundary line equation: ___x + 3y = 12 ___________________
Describe the boundary line graph using x intercept, y intercept, slope, slant, and indicate the quadrants the boundary line graph will pass through.
--------------
y = (-1/3)x+4
Describe the boundary line graph using
x intercept: Let y=0, then x= 12
y intercept: Let x=0, then y = 4
slope: m=-1/3
slant: never heard of that one
and indicate the quadrants the boundary line graph will pass through.
Since the y-intercept is (0,4) and since the slope is negative,
the boundary line passes thru II, I, and IV.
--------------------------------------------------

13. Continuing to graph the inequality x + 3y < 12 from problem 12 above.
Describe how the boundary line would be graphed: dashed or solid and why?
Ans: dashed because "equality" is not part of the original problem.
-----------------------------------
Pick a test point to determine which side of the boundary line is to be shaded and why your point indicates this side. The point: (0,0)_________ Why?
(0,0) is not on the boundary line so it is a good test point.
______
14. Finishing the graphing of the inequality from number 12,
Describe the shading in each quadrant:
