Question 214425
A rectangle has an area of 62 square feet. Determine the perimeter, P, as a function of the width, w.

Step 1. The area A of a rectangle is 62 square feet=lw where l is the length and w is the width. So l=62/w

Step 2. Perimeter means adding up all the sides of a rectangle or P=l+l+w+w=2(l+w)

Step 3. Substitute l from Step 1 into Step 2 to yield, P=2*(62/w+w)=2*(62+w^2)/w

Step 4.  Answer is {{{P=2*(62+w^2)/w}}}

I hope the above steps and explanation were helpful.
