Question 214469
<font face="Garamond" size="+2">

Let *[tex \Large x] represent one of the angles. The other is *[tex \Large x + 36]. The sum of the measures of two supplementary angles is 180°

*[tex \LARGE \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ x + x + 36 = 180]

Solve for *[tex \Large x] to get the smaller angle, add 36 to get the other one.

You could also have done:

*[tex \LARGE \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ x + x - 36 = 180]

In which case *[tex \Large x] would be the larger angle and subtracting 36 would give you the smaller one.
