Question 214202
Write a equation of a line with x intercept=3 and y-intercept =-4.

{{{y=mx+b}}}

Step 1. The x-intercept occurs when y=0 or at the point (3,0). Substitute x=3 and y=0 into

{{{y=mx+b}}}

{{{0=3m+b}}}

{{{3m=-b}}}

Step 2. We can find b and then we can find the slope m. The y-intercept occurs when x=0 or at the point (0,-4). Substitute x=0 and y=-4 into the equation

{{{y=mx+b}}}

{{{-4=0+b}}}

{{{b=-4}}}

Step 3.  Then 3m=-(-4) or m=4/3.

Step 4.  ANSWER:  So the equation is {{{y=4x/3-4}}}

I hope the above steps were helpful.
