Two similar figures have a ration of 4:3.  If 1 side of the larger figure is 12 inches, how long is the corresponding side of the smaller figure?


Here is the interpretation to the above problem statement


{{{3/4=x/12}}} = smaller/larger


Now, multiply by 12 to both sides of the equation


{{{12*3/4=12x/12=x}}}


{{{x=9}}}
