Question 213440
The diameter of a basketball is about 9.5 inches. Find the volume of air inside
it in cubic centimeters .Neglect the thickness of the ball.(Note:1in=2.54cm)

Step 1. Let D=diameter of basketball, then radius r is D/2 or r=4.75 inches

Step 2.  Volume of Sphere is {{{V=(4pir^3)/3}}}

Step 3.   {{{V=(4pir^3)/3=(4pi(4.75)^3)/3= 4pi(4.75*2.54)^3/3= 7356.5 (cm)^3}}}

where ([4.75 inches)x(2.54 cm/inch)]^3= 1756.62 cm^3

I hope the above steps were helpful.
