Question 212647
What volume (in cc) is occupied by a block of wood of dimensions 25.0m X 10.0cm X 300m? All edges are 90 degrees to one another.

Step 1.  Volume = (25 m) x (10 cm) x (300 m).

Step 2. Units are not the same and need to convert to cm where 1 m = 100 cm. So

{{{25 m = (25 m)(100 cm/1 m)}}}

{{{25 m = 2500 cm}}}

{{{300 m = (300 m)(100 cm/1 m)}}}

{{{300 m = 30000 cm}}}

Step 3.    Volume = (25 m) x (10 cm) x (300 m) = (2500 cm) x (10 cm) x (30000)

{{{Volume = (2500)(10)(30000) cm^3}}}

{{{Volume = 750000000 cm^3}}} or {{{Volume = 7.5*(10^8) cm^3}}}

I hope the above steps were helpful.

Good luck in your studies!

Respectfully,
Dr J
