Question 212146
I need to find the distance between the points (-1,5) and (-6,-4).

Step 1. The distance formula d between two points (x1,y1) and (x2,y2) is given as

{{{d=sqrt((x2-x1)^2+(y2-y1)^2)}}}

Step 2.  Substitute the following:  x1=-1, y1=5, x2=-6 and y2=-4

{{{d=sqrt((-6-(-1))^2+(-4-5)^2)}}}

{{{d=sqrt((-5)^2+(-9)^2)}}}

{{{d=sqrt(25+81)=sqrt(106)=10.296}}}

Step 3.  d = 10.296
