There is no answer to this problem. The problem is wrong to start with. If you subtract 14 from both sides you get -5 on the right. Divide this by two and you get -5/2. The left side of the equation says that the absolute value of x+2 is equal to this. This is impossible because a negative number inside an absolute value yeilds a positive number and a positive number inside an absolute value also yeilds a positive number. Therefore this absolute value can not produce a negative number.
