Question 209266
The idea with factoring is finding two numbers, so that when added they equal 'b' (which is -4) and when multiplied they equal 'c' (which is -60).

The two numbers I got were -10 and 6. So put the numbers in this form:

(x-10)(x+6)

(notice that when you multiply this out again, using FOIL, you will get your original equation!)

Then set each one equal to zero

(x-10)=0
x=10

(x+6)=0
x=-6

Your answers are x=10 and x=-6

I hope this helps!
