Question 209149
The length of a rectangle is 5cm less than twice its width. The perimeter of the rectangle is 26 cm. What are the dimensions of the rectangle?
----------------------------------
Let the width be "W".
Then length = L = 2W-5
--------------------------------
Equation:
Perimeter = 2(W + L)
26 = 2(W + 2W-5)
13 = W +2W - 5
13 = 3W - 5
3W = 18
W = 6 cm (width)
L = 2W-5 = 7 cm (length)
