Question 208333
Well distributing the 3 into the (x-1) we get
3x-3+7=7x-2+x
now we combine like terms. To make this a little easier I'm going to rewrite the equation.
3x-3+7=7x-2+x
3x+7-3=7x+x-2
now we can just add like terms:
3x+7-3=7x+x-2
3x+4 = 8x-2
now we want to get x by its self so to do that lets get it on one side of the equation so subtract the 3x from both sides. Its gone on the left and your left with (8-3)x or 5x.
3x+4=8x-2
4 = 5x-2
now we add 2 to both sides.
3x+4 = 5x-2
4+2 = 5x-2+2
6 = 8x
now we divide both sides by 8
6/8 = x which is our answer but we can simplify.
x = 6/8 = 3/4 = 0.75
