Question 3540
functions are very straight forward. In the main, it is a more "professional" way of writing y= all the time.

f(x) = {{{6^x}}} means exactly the same as {{{y=6^x}}}.

f(-2) means x is -2, so put that value in the equation, to give f(-2) = {{{6^(-2)}}}.

You can work this out on your calculator to give a long decimal, that you have no idea what it means or where it came from, or you can do the manipulation by hand: it isn't difficult and it keeps the answer in a form you understand, so here goes:

{{{6^(-2)}}} means {{{1/6^2}}} which is {{{1/36}}}. That is it!
