Question 28725
In real right trianlge you would try to find the length by the pythorean theorem.
{{{c^2-a^2=b^2}}} or {{{c^2-b^2=a^2}}}
Do the smae here. letting a= x+14 and b = x
{{{(26)^2-(x)^2=(x+14)^2}}}
{{{676-x^2=x^2+28x+196}}}
{{{2x^2+28x-480}}}
{{{x^2+14x-240}}}
{{{x = (-b +- sqrt( b^2-4*a*c ))/(2*a) }}}
{{{x=(-14+-sqrt((14^2)-4*1*-240))/(2*1)}}}
Simplfy
you get two solutions.
x=-24 or x=10
10+14=24 (a side)

Hence, the two sides are 10cm and 24 cm.
