Question 204818
Set up equations that model the two Ladies kniited square production
{{{Mary = 200 + 20h}}}
{{{Sue = 5000 + 15h}}}

Using those two equations, you can solve all of the questions.

After the first hour, how many knitted squares will Mary have; how many knitted squares will Sue have? After the 2nd hour, 3rd hour?
Just plug in the given values for h and solve. For instance, after 1 hour, h=1. so
{{{Mary = 200 + 20h}}}
{{{Mary = 200 + 20* 1}}}
{{{Mary = 220}}}
{{{Sue = 5000 + 15h}}}
{{{Sue = 5000 + 15*1}}}
{{{Sue = 5015}}}
Do the same for the other listed values for h

How many hours must they work until they both have the same amount of knitted squares?
To do this one, set the two equations equal to each other and solve
{{{Mary = 200 + 20h}}}
{{{Sue = 5000 + 15h}}}
So
{{{200 + 20h = 5000 + 15h}}}
{{{5h = 4800}}}
{{{h = 960}}}

On the day they have the same amount of knitted squares, how many squares will they each have?
Use h=960 and solve. The number should be the same for both Mary and Sue
