Question 198218
two Y over Y squared minus 25 plus y +5 over y-5
You can't solve it, just simplify it. Assume the problem is:
{{{(2y)/((y^2-25))}}} + {{{((y+5))/((y-5))}}}
Factor the 1st denominator (the difference of squares)
{{{(2y)/((y-5)(y+5))}}} + {{{((y+5))/((y-5))}}}
The common denominator:(y-5)(y+5), so we have
{{{((2y)+ (y+5)(y+5))/((y-5)(y+5))}}}
FOIL and combine like terms
{{{((2y)+ (y^2+10y+25))/((y-5)(y+5))}}} = {{{(y^2+12y+25)/((y-5)(y+5))}}}; that's about all you can do with it.
