Question 197087
<font face="Garamond" size="+2">

You were almost there. Just a little misstep with a sign. You were correct up to the point where you said:

*[tex \LARGE \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ -2x^2 + 27 = -7x + 12]

But then you added a -27 on the left and +27 on the right, where you should have added -27 to both sides resulting in:

*[tex \LARGE \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ -2x^2 = -7x - 15]

*[tex \LARGE \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ 2x^2 - 7x - 15 = 0]

Which factors rather tidily to:

*[tex \LARGE \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ (2x + 3)(x - 5) = 0]

Can you take it from there?
