Question 185143
<font face="Garamond" size="+2">

Please stop shouting. Typing in all caps is the electronic equivalent of shouting and is both rude and annoying.

Let <b><i>x</i></b> represent the 10s digit and let <b><i>y</i></b> represent the 1s digit. Then the number is *[tex \LARGE 10x + y] and the number with the digits reversed is *[tex \LARGE 10y + x]

The sum of the digits is 14:

*[tex \LARGE \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ x + y = 14]

Reversing the digits subtracted from the original number:

*[tex \LARGE \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ 10x + y - (10y + x) = 9x - 9y = 18 \ \ \Rightarrow\ \ x - y = 2]

Now you have a system of two equations in two variables. Solve the system. The x value will be the 10s digit of the original number and the y value will be the 1s digit.
