Question 193190
 I have tried to figure out how this question is answered by using the information from questions # 183096 & # 186337. I do not grasp the concept of these formulas. Can someone please walk me through this question?
A drinking glass is in the shape of a cylinder that is 5 cm in diameter and 140 mm tall. How many cubic centimeters of water will it hold? (Approximate solution to the nearest tenth.)
-----------------------
The volume of a cylinder is
{{{V = pi*r^2*h}}}
{{{V = pi*2.5^2*14}}} (the radius is dia/2, and the height is 14 cm)
{{{V = 87.5*pi cc}}}
V = ~ 274.9 cc
It will hold ~275 cc of water, or air, or any fluid (liquid or gas).
