Question 187187
Let the boy is b years and his sister s years
Given b = s + 8 ---- eqn (1)
After 10 years boy’s age = b+10 and his sister’s age = s+10
Given (b+10)/(s+10) = 3/2
Cross multiplying we get
2(b+10) = 3(s+10)
2b + 20 = 3s + 30
2b – 3s = 10 plugging in the value of b from eqn(1) we get
2(s+8) – 3s = 10
2s + 16 – 3s = 10
So - s = - 6 therefore the sister is 6 years old and the boy is( 6+8 )= 14 years old
