Question 182947
Detemine the area in square units of the triangle enclosed by the lines y=-4 x=5 and y=2x+16
---------------------
The easy way:
Move the triangle up 4 units. Then it's y = 0 (x-axis) and y = 2x+20. The 3rd line is vertical, so sliding the triangle up has no effect on x=5.
Then move it left 5 units --> y = 2x+30
Solve for the x and y intercepts:
x: (-15,0)
y: (0,30)
A= bh/2
A = 225 sq units
