Question 181913
I can not figure this out!!
The base of a ladder is 15 feet away from the wall. The top of the ladder is 16 feet from the floor. Find the length of the ladder to the nearest thousandth.
------------------
The wall and the ground make a right angle, so use Pythagoras. The ladder is the hypotenuse.
{{{h^2 = 15^2 + 16^2}}}
{{{h^2 = 481}}}
h = 21.932 feet
That's an accurate length for a ladder, and it's in a dangerous position against the wall at that angle.
