The equation *[tex \Large x = -9] is the equation of a vertical line consisting of all points in *[tex \Large R^2] with <i>x</i>-coordinate equal to -9.  Any point with an <i>x</i>-coordinate of -9 is on the line.  Any point with any other <i>x</i>-coordinate is not on the line.


By the way, you separate coordinates in an ordered pair with a comma, not a period, like this (6, -8).
